New full-featured route is being developed in Loire Valley for tourists on bicycles. The route ("La Loire a Velo") goes through the central region and departments of Western Loire, and is designed to introduce a countryside and the most important castles.

Length of the route that starts in Nevers and ends on Atlantic coast, is about 800 kilometers. It goes through Orleans, Blois, Tours, Saumur, Angers and Nantes. By now, approximately 600 km of roads are prepared. If everything goes as planned, all roads will be ready by 2011.
